Research on Silicon Carbide:

For my PhD-thesis I work at the university Friedrich-Schiller in Jena, Astrophysical Institute and University Observatory. The subject of my PhD-thesis is "Preparation of nano-sized silicon carbide powders by laser pyrolysis and spectroscopic investigations of matrix isolated particles (prepared by molecular beam technique)". I started this work in october 1997.

Experimental methods:

Analytical methods:

  • IR-spectroscopy
  • UV/VIS-spectroscopy
  • Raman-spectroscopy
  • X-Ray-diffraction
  • Electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS)
  • (high resolution) Transmission electron microscopy (TEM, HR-TEM)
  • Comparison with astronomical data
