Fomalhaut companion candidate: A neutron star ?

Neuhäuser et al. 2015 MNRAS

plot sed rne

Spectral energy distribution of the faint object near Fomalhaut: The infrared upper limits (top right) are not consistent with a planet (green), while all points are consistent with a hot object (roughly 100,000 to 120,000 K) like a neutron star (like RXJ1856 or RXJ0720). (Full figure caption in article link above.)

The astrometry seems to indicate a belt-crossing orbit without curvature, which should not be the case for a planet; it would be consistent with a background neutron star, which is expected to move fast. All observables are consistent with the neutron star hypothesis.
